An intrinsic part of any design scheme, colour can influence the mood and behaviour of building inhabitants. Acrovyn’s colour offering has been updated to reflect interior design trends, and to help you produce harmonised designs. Whatever ambience you want to create, finding the right combination for your project is just a question of choice.
Warm, soothing colours

Soft, low contrast colours help to create peaceful environments, where wellbeing and aesthetics are important.
In addition our timber handrails, or Faux Wood finishes (now available for handrails and sheet), will provide a warm, non-institutional feel to the interior
Vibrant and uplifting combinations

Use intense colours to make a bold design statement, or to create bright and stimulating interior schemes.
These colours can also be successfully utilised in wayfinding schemes in large buildings.
Stylish, cool and elegant

Wall protection can be stylish. Combinations of light and dark colours, and our Faux Metal finishes, can blend in with, or accent even the most contemporary environments.

The below extract is taken from Approved Document M:
It is recommended that large surfaces in a building, as well as key fittings/fixtures, are visually distinguishable from one another, or from the surrounding background, by virtue of the difference in Light Reflectance Value (LRV). This difference should be 30 points or more (the ‘good zone’). However, 20 points might be acceptable where the illuminance on the surface is 200 lux or more (refer to BS 8300:2009+A1:2010, Annex B for details. Elements that require consideration include:
- In corridors or entrance lobbies any obstructions, or full height elements protruding into the space more than 100mm (such as columns, ducts etc.), should be protected with visually contrasting materials.
- Doors and frames should have sufficient colour contrast with each other and surrounding walls, to make them easily visible when closed. The leading edge of any door that is likely to be held open should contrast visually with the remaining surfaces of the door and its surroundings to be easily identifiable by visually impaired people.
- Handrail colour should be sufficiently different from the background wall colour.
All of the above recommendations could be achieved by using sheet protection, trolley plates, crashrails or corner guards. Alternatively, a handrail could be utilised to steer pedestrians and wheelchair users around the obstacle.
